This has led to a failure of discussion on the influence people like de Caussade might have on our present spiritual well-being. This critical reflection of a hospital chaplain’s encounter with a patient reveals that de Caussade’s life and teaching both influenced de Caussade’s own time and still has something prophetic and powerful to offer today.
